Also, we are pleased to announce that William Pfoff has joined our sales team. William has almost 25 years experience in the telecom industry and brings a wealth of knowledge.
Looking forward, we will be scheduling in-house user training for our clients. These sessions will help you take full advantage of all the power your communication system has to offer.More information wil be comingin our next newsletter.
Not Ready for VoIP? Here's an Alternative
You've heard of VoIP and your company may be investigating the benefits of it. Yet, many organizations are not in a position to replace their entire data infrastructure to implement an IP-based telephone system. Thanks to Unified Communication you can still have many of the benefits of VoIP without the effort of a data network upgrade.
Unified Communication integrates voice, e-mail and fax messages in one location. It also allows intra-company instant messaging (IM) in a secure environment as well as presence management (the ability to have calls directed to your current location based on time of day and type of call).
Since all of the foregoing is not necessary for every organization, Unified Communication is available as a modular add-on to your communication network, allowing you to use only what you need. Best of all, these benefits don't require a whole new data network.
Simplify Your Wide Area Network and Get More
Are you using Frame Relay or do you need a Wide Area Network offering security and Quality of Service? MPLS is an IP-based Virtual Private Network that prioritizes traffic into Classes of Service (CoS), to provide Quality of Service (QoS) for specific applications.
- Priority and Class of Service allows the network to transport legacy and next-generation traffic while ensuring priority traffic is sent/received first, especially:
- - Voice over IP (VoIP) or IP Video traffic - Latency-sensitive Telnet or other mainframe traffic
- Secure your data using private IP networking rather than the open "public'' network of the Internet
- Save money by combining legacy networks to a single network of voice and data
- Migrate to next-generation applications by adding Voice over IP and video
- Improve Serviceability: Network efficiency is improved by creating a meshed (any-to-any point) network, eliminating the need to first pass traffic through the headquarters site.
- Buy only the bandwidth you need and grow as you need it. MPLS is available on fractional T1, T1, bonded T1s, DS3 or Ethernet Local Loops.
Manage Your Toshiba Network From Home
Toshiba Telecommunication Systems Division announced Network eManager® Software Release 5.10, delivering Web-based, multi-site administration for Toshiba Strata® CIX™ IP communication systems.
"Toshiba's Network eManager software gives the administrator of oshiba Strata CIX IP communication systems the ability to remotely manage multiple systems from anywhere there's Internet access," said Eric Abing, product manager at Toshiba's Telecommunication Systems Division. "This saves time and travel expense by being able to connect to any and all systems in the network and make system-wide changes from a single location over the Web."
Network eManager is a software program that provides comprehensive network management tools for Toshiba's family of Strata CIX IP communication systems, including the Strata CTX®28, CIX40, CIX100, CIX200, and CIX670.
Network eManager's new features include:
- Simultaneous System-wide Back-ups - Simultaneous system-wide backups save valuable time by eliminating the need to back-up each system individually. Whether an enterprise has 10 or 1,000 systems, system-wide back-ups make administration faster and easier
- Simultaneous System Changes - Simultaneous changes to all the systems, regardless of the type of CIX or location, ensure data consistency across all systems. By propagating all the changes at the same time, the administrator can be confident that all of the CIX systems are synchronized.
- Simultaneous Log-in - The system administrator can now be logged into all systems or any combination of systems at the same time. Previously, the administrator had to log into each system individually and had to log out before going into the next system. Now, the system administrator can be logged into some or all of the systems at the same time.
- Simultaneous Upgrades - System administrators can simultaneously push out new software to all their Strata CIX systems, eliminating the need to individually upgrade software on their systems, making it faster, easier and more consistent across the entire network.
Sincerely,
Mike Ray
