Dear Reader,
With changes in business coming ever-faster Mitel is helping enterprises move ahead of the curve with the 7000.
Are you getting more spam? Some IT managers report an increase of as much as 80% since October. Our article on image spam addresses this trend.
Mitel Announces the 7000
Today's business demands immediate change and response. Your people and processes need to be efficient in order to guarantee success. Your communication system needs to be more than a phone system. It should integrate with the way you conduct business and adapt to your needs in an accelerating environment. Your people need to take advantage of real-time communication.
To meet those enterprise business goals Mitel has introduced the 7000. The 7000 can radically change the way your business communicates. Today's workers travel more or work at home and need to be engaged in constant communication. Adding to voice calls, users are inundated with a barrage of fax messages, e-mails and instant messages.
The Mitel 7000 provides communication tools designed to seamlessly integrate users with a higher level of communication and collaboration no matter where they are. The 7000 is a feature-rich multi-media communication solution that takes real advantage of IP technology. Importantly for enterprise business, it is based on true industry standards allowing connection of up to 2,500 users while providing individual flexibility. Contact us for more information

The Latest Spam Threat
If you're getting a lot more spam lately, you are not alone. The latest trend for spammers is "Image Spam", which now accounts for as much as 15% of all spam. These are unsolicited e-mails that do not contain text, instead, the actual text is embedded in an image designed to look like text. Many text-based spam filters do not stop the new image spam and, in an effort to make it more difficult for spam filters, image spammers can automatically change the image by just a few pixels or slice the spam into tiles to avoid your spam traps.
What's interesting about these messages is that many of these are not selling anything rather they tout a specific OTC stock, encouraging victims to buy that stock to raise its value then the spammers turn around and sell their shares to make profits.
Image spam is also used in phishing schemes where it is almost impossible to distinguish a legitimate logo or message from a spammer. A Gartner Group survey found that 24 million Americans clicked on phishing scams in 2006 - more than twice the number who did so last year. What's more astonishing is that 3 ½ million people gave out sensitive information. There's a lesson in there: e-mail users need more education.
Outside of an educated user, comprehensive anti-virus and anti-spam filters that focus on the origin and content of a message provide the best protection. If you are still receiving a lot of spam contact us for assistance.
